Teachers as Mediators in the Foreign Language Classroom PDF Free

Teachers as Mediators in the Foreign Language Classroom PDF By:Dr. Michelle Kohler Published on 2015-01-12 by Multilingual Matters Language teachers are key figures in preparing young people for participation in an increasingly multilingual and culturally diverse world, yet little is known about how they go about this in practice. This book uses examples of classroom interaction to reveal how teachers of languages act as intercultural mediators and the implications of this for practice. To date, there has been little exploration of how teachers mediate language and culture learning from an intercultural perspective, and what underlies their mediation practices in terms of their conceptions of intercultural language teaching and learning. This book offers an account of what teachers are thinking, feeling and doing as they enact an intercultural perspective on language teaching and learning. Using Communication Theory PDF By:Sven Windahl,Benno Signitzer,Jean T Olson Published on 2008-11-18 by SAGE |Using Communication Theory was a rarity in bridging the gap between ideas and practice. It is the comprehensive and self-evident source for theories and models, forming the base for the study of professions requiring communication planning.| - Larsåke Larsson, Örebro University What does theory have to do with the practice of communication? Rereading Aristotle's Rhetoric PDF Free

Rereading Aristotle's Rhetoric PDF By:Alan G. Gross,Arthur E. Walzer Published on 2008-02-20 by SIU Press In this collection edited by Alan G. Gross and Arthur E. Walzer, scholars in communication, rhetoric and composition, and philosophy seek to “reread” Aristotle’s Rhetoric from a purely rhetorical perspective. So important do these contributors find the Rhetoric, in fact, that a core tenet in this book is that “all subsequent rhetorical theory is but a series of responses to issues raised by the central work.” The essays reflect on questions basic to rhetoric as a humanistic discipline. Some explore the ways in which the Rhetoric explicates the nature of the art of rhetoric, noting that on this issue, the tensions within the Rhetoric often provide a direct passageway into our own conflicts. Real Sectoral Spillovers: A Dynamic Factor Analysis of the Great Recession PDF Free

Real Sectoral Spillovers: A Dynamic Factor Analysis of the Great Recession PDF By:MissNan Li,Mr.Vance Martin Published on 2018-05-09 by International Monetary Fund This paper studies changes in the transmission of common versus sectoral idiosyncratic shocks across different U.S. nonfarm business sectors during the Great Recession, and evaluates the cross-sectoral spillovers. Shocks are identified by dynamic factor methods. We find that the Great Recession is largely a time of heightened impact of common shocks— which accounts for 3/4 of aggregate volatility—and large spillovers of negative financerelated shocks. Moreover, in contrast with the earlier literature that failed to find a significant role of sectoral shocks (propagated through the input-output linkages across sectors) in driving variability in aggregate industry output, this study allows spillovers of shocks to operate through other mechanisms intertemporally. We find that prior to the recession the majority of aggregate flu
